Thickeners

Like in paints, coatings and adhesives, different products can be used as thickeners in hydraulic-based-binder mortars. However, “Rheology Modifier” is a better term than “Thickener”. They are based on different chemicals and show different properties. Some of them only thicken the product (like polyacrylamides) while some other are more known as water retention agent than thickeners (like cellulose derivatives), some other more improve the workability (like starch ethers and guar gum).
